Let’s start with what is clear.

Answers to the most common questions about particulate filters, services and how we work.

What is the difference between DPF/FAP and GPF/OPF?

DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) and FAP (Filtre à Particules) both refer to the particulate filter of diesel engines. GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) and OPF (Otto Particulate Filter) are the particulate filters of petrol engines.

Can a filter always be regenerated?

No. Suitability depends on the condition of the filter and on the specific case: a damaged filter, for example one with cracks, may not be regenerable. That is why we assess each case before confirming the work.

How much does the service cost and how long does it take?

It depends on the type of filter and the service requested. Describe your vehicle and the problem: we will reply with a dedicated assessment and quote.

The filter warning light is on: what should I do?

The warning light means the system has detected a fault. Driving for a long time with a clogged filter can make things worse, so it is best to have it assessed. Contact us and describe the warning lights and symptoms.

Will regenerating the filter get me through the MFK?

We cannot guarantee the outcome of an official inspection. Since 2023 the MFK (periodic vehicle inspection) checks the filter of diesel vehicles with a particle measurement: if you have an inspection coming up, contact us for an assessment. Read the guide.

Do you also work with garages and businesses?

Yes. Besides private customers, we work with businesses and garages. A programme for partner garages under agreement is planned: contact us to find out the terms.

Do you offer the service at my trusted garage?

Certain services can be carried out or arranged at your trusted garage, where technically possible and by prior agreement. Use “Check availability” to ask.

Do you remove or deactivate the particulate filter?

No. Our field is the regeneration and care of particulate filter systems, not their removal.

What do I need to tell you to receive a quote?

Make, model, year and engine of the vehicle, the service you are interested in and, if helpful, any warning lights and symptoms you notice.

Where is SWISS DPF SERVICE located and which areas of Ticino do you cover?

We are based in Figino (Lugano), in the Lugano area, at Via Pree 1. We serve private customers, companies and garages across Canton Ticino: see areas and municipalities. Arrangements and areas covered for your case are defined directly with us.
